Finding and following a career passion

Before joining Fluido, Laura was studying a master’s degree in economics and working in customer service. She had dabbled in marketing-related tasks before, but at that time it didn’t really have her focus yet. Laura feels like she found her path while working at Fluido. As her role was so flexible, she could explore different tasks and discover her own preferences. Laura felt happy to be supported as her role shifted — and also relieved that she did not have to change workplace to follow her career passion.

The things that Laura loves most about Fluido are the amazing colleagues, atmosphere, and company culture. She feels like everyone here is similar in some way, making it easy to ‘click’ and communicate with colleagues on a daily basis. The atmosphere motivates her in day-to-day work: she finds it encouraging to be surrounded by people who support one another, who are ready to listen, and who are not afraid to ask for help. When Laura was starting as a consultant a year ago, many people helped her, and now she feels that she finally has the expertise to help others. Being able to help people — guide them, and find ways to make their lives easier — is a rewarding feeling for Laura, and an important part of what she wanted in her career.

Day-to-day life of a superhero

Over the past four years, Laura has worked with Fluidians from all the offices and organized events in all countries where the company is present. Currently, as a business consultant, she works mostly with projects in Finland, Sweden, and Norway, as well as helping out her colleagues in other countries from time to time. She is working with customers on a daily basis, and also involved in sales processes for new marketing automation projects. Her tasks include implementations, delivering workshops, managing customers’ projects, and developing the use of Pardot. She is focused on utilizing Salesforce Sales Cloud more and more, to make sure customers get the full benefit of those two systems working together seamlessly. Laura still remembers her first project with her first customer: in a way, she considers it to be the best. She still works with that customer and develops new solutions for them, and she remembers learning a lot from their first project together. It was exciting for Laura to complete that project to her satisfaction, with the support of her colleagues.

When she’s not working on Fluido projects, Laura likes travelling and sports. She also loves nature: picking berries, walking, and being in the forest. One sport she practices is fitness boxing — Laura finds it effective in releasing stress, and it’s great exercise.

Observing the company’s growth from different angles

Laura has seen Fluido grow from 40 people to almost 180. She says, “It’s been really amazing to see the organization first from within, since I was involved in many administrative and marketing tasks before, and now from another angle — it’s a big change, but it’s very exciting. I think the management is doing a great job keeping the culture together and choosing the right people to support the right culture and atmosphere. Of course, change is inevitable, but I think we’re on the right path. The people are happy to work here and that definitely shows in our customers’ satisfaction.”

Back in Germany, Tobias studied classic applied computer science. He worked in e-health sector for three years, mainly with radiology and clinic management software. This was until his friend called that a company in the financial sector in Frankfurt needed more staff. Tobias then worked there for three years as a Project Manager. Around 80 % of that work was Salesforce-related, and that is how Tobias got interested in the Salesforce ecosystem and later decided to apply for work at Fluido.

At Fluido, Tobias manages a team of four that works solely for one customer. “We started small in this Salesforce project, with two persons only, then it grew to a team of four. I’m leading this team and I’m also the contact person for the customer. This project covers everything: we consult, we take care of administration and keep the system running. We also develop additional functionalities. It is a global customer, so we are in contact with people in Asia, North-America, and Europe, and also with offshore resources in India,” Tobias elaborates the global project.

"Finding the right priority might be the most challenging aspect about my work."

Prioritizing can sometimes be challenging. “We have quite many parallel projects open at the same time. Finding the right priority might be the most challenging aspect about my work,” Tobias describes his responsibilities. When asked about the best aspect about his work Tobias doesn’t need to think long: “I think the best part is that I can freely decide when to do my work. I can start or end whenever I want and nobody is watching over me. My work is extremely flexible also in terms of place. I can work from wherever.” The flexible working time and location also makes it easier for Tobias to combine work with family life. He is a proud father of a 10-month girl.

Tobias is interested in IT management. “At Fluido, we now have a young team and there’s still some work to be done and to improve,” he describes. He then continues with another type of achievement: “I am also able to improve my ice hockey skills here and finally play an ice hockey match!”

Pasi Haukka is the second employee at Fluido. He joined the company in August 2010 — just a few months after Fluido was founded. Pasi majored in software technology and became acquainted with application development, later creating a small custom CRM as his final thesis. After graduating, he was working with hardware and server maintenance, company network planning, and problem solving as well as database and web programming — quite far from the cloud business. Pasi joined Fluido with an open mind, ready to learn about a technology that was totally unknown to him. Now, almost six years later, he is a valued and respected colleague who amazes his peers with his skills — and even has a solution named after him!

At Fluido, Pasi started as an application developer and his tasks have been evolving over the years, along with Fluido’s growth. Salesforce was totally new for Pasi when he joined Fluido, but the platform has become very familiar to him over the years. Pasi works closely with customers to find the best way to solve their problems and to develop their business with Salesforce. Working with large global customers has also taught him a lot, as has working with different technologies for various customer projects. Working with customers on different projects is one of the things Pasi enjoys most in his work. But first and foremost, Pasi mentions his colleagues and the working environment as the best part of working at Fluido. As Pasi has been there almost from the very beginning, he has seen the company grow from a 5-person start-up in Espoo to a Nordic-wide player. “It has been interesting to see all the different phases during this journey,” he sums up.

Salesforce and its technology are evolving and developing all the time, with new releases and updates launched three times a year. This means that working in the Salesforce ecosystem never gets boring: there is always more to learn. “Working with this technology stays versatile and interesting,” Pasi adds. For Pasi, Chatter was one major and very visible new addition to Salesforce, which took a little getting used to, as a replacement for work emails. But a few years later, Chatter is the obvious tool for communicating with colleagues in different locations.

"When we were small, we were like a little family, and this feeling is still the base of the company."

Sports have always been an important part of Pasi’s free time and a good way to balance life. After attending the famous Classic Finntriathlon in Joroinen as part of the Fluido team in 2015, together with two other brave Fluidians, his training has become even more goal-oriented. The coming summer will be spent cycling, running and swimming, and of course taking part in two triathlon competitions, including his first personal Finntriathlon!

For Pasi, Fluido has always been a great employer. “When we were small, we were like a little family, and this feeling is still the base of the company,” he describes. “The atmosphere among colleagues is very warm. Each year we gather for a couple of days and there it becomes clear how we all feel part of the big Fluido family and all work toward the same goal,” he adds. The management at Fluido is relaxed and every employee is a person with a face: people are the most important and no one is left behind.

Pasi awaits the future with the same open and positive mind with which he joined the company: “While growing to become even bigger than now, the company will change. It’s great to be part of this and to see where we’re going!”

Peter has a long and broad background in IT, varying from teaching source code to designing hardware and software, and doing engineering within different industries, from military airborne electronics for fighter jets and helicopters to mobile phone base stations. He worked as a senior engineer and architect for 18 years before joining Fluido. And already the force.com technology had been familiar to him for more than 10 years!

At Fluido, Peter began as a developer and consultant for small projects while learning the ins and outs of the force.com platform. Now, as the technology lead and senior developer in the Stockholm office, Peter amazes his colleagues every day with his skills and experience. He spends his workdays setting up data models, implementing integrations and setting overall architecture for customer projects. In addition to working with existing customers, Peter works on pre-sales projects where potential customers are looking for the best solution for their business.

He is keen on sharing his knowledge and is always ready to teach force.com best practices to his coworkers. A true force.com enthusiast, Peter also regularly co-organizes the Stockholm Salesforce Developer Group meetups, where Salesforce developers can meet face-to-face and share their know-how, experiences, and knowledge about the platform and learn new things from their peers.

For Peter, the best aspect of being on the Fluido team is the collaborative and multinational atmosphere, with dedicated people who are similarly driven and engaged to learn more and to help out coworkers, and enthusiastic about the technology that brings solutions to customers in a shorter timescale. “It is a joy to see a happy customer!” Peter adds. The warm atmosphere between colleagues creates a kind family feeling where employees have very low or no barriers to engage with anyone in the company.

Salesforce releases new updates three times a year, which means improved functionalities are added to the platform constantly. This brings a new challenging aspect to the work of an architect dedicated to Salesforce, but it is definitely something Peter enjoys! Due to his curious nature, Peter dove quickly into the new Salesforce platform functionality released last year, and now he wishes to help his colleagues to learn it as well.

Peter has a family with small kids and this sometimes means it is hard to work a full week, but thanks to the flexibility at Fluido, some of the work follows him home. Busy times both at work and at home means he needs to plan his free time to find space for sports and other hobbies. His favorite activities depend on the season: “Windsurfing with my friends is one of the things I am longing for in both spring and autumn,” he says. Downhill skiing is an important winter activity for him, and in the summer Peter wants to enjoy sun, swimming, and gardening at his cottage as much as possible.

Peter sees life as a journey of constantly learning more! In the future he wants to continue learning new functionalities and technologies and to utilize them in even larger and more demanding projects with interesting needs and requirements to design and build great solutions. One of his dreams is to become a Salesforce-certified architect!

Antti Turunen doesn’t have the most typical background for an employee of an IT company as he majored in Sport Science. After his studies in Stockholm, he worked in the sports technology industry specializing in the measurement of sports performance for a few years. For a while this seemed like the right career path for him, until he came across Salesforce one day. “When I got the chance to join Fluido four years ago, it was a no brainer for me as I wanted to work in this industry and in a close relationship with the customers”, Antti tells. He got impressed about the company, the culture, the technology, and the innovation.

Working at Fluido is a constant learning process as the company grows and new challenges and opportunities are faced on the way. Also the technology and the Salesforce ecosystem evolve continuously which requires constant effort to stay up-to-date on all new functionalities. “Being a Salesforce pure play partner we obviously take pride in understanding also the technology side really well“, Antti says.

Antti Turunen started at Fluido in a sales role in the Norwegian market and about a year ago moved to Copenhagen and became responsible for Fluido’s business in Denmark and Norway. He describes sales at Fluido as a very consultative type of sales because the tasks include helping clients to evaluate and find the right Salesforce.com solutions and also at the same time being responsible for the business relationship with the client.

"We rely on people taking initiatives to make this a better place for everyone"

In his work, Antti enjoys most the fact that he gets to understand different businesses, how they operate and what is important for them. “Many times we can draw parallels across verticals and create innovative solutions for complex scenarios”, he explains. Additionally the good client relationships and the times when the Fluido team exceeds customer expectations in the service delivery are the things which keep him going.

To balance work life, Antti tries to reserve some time each day for exercise which is very important for him. He loves spending time outside in the nature, whether it is hiking, mountaineering, biking, skiing or something else.

Antti describes Fluido as an encouraging workplace where it is easy to express your opinion and make an impact if something could be improved. Also the company culture is very open and international. “We rely on people taking initiatives to make this a better place for everyone”, he sums up. He is looking forward to working with many new clients and deliver excellent services here at Fluido in the future and of course enjoy doing it.

Pauliina Löytty joined Fluido as the 7th employee and the first lady back in 2010. By then, she had been working with Salesforce for a few years as a project manager in another Finland-based software company. Even after 10 years, she thinks that Salesforce is still a lot of fun to work with.

Pauliina started at Fluido as a Salesforce consultant. Now, more than 4 years later, in addition to consulting projects, a big part of her work is being a Salesforce Certified Instructor and training Salesforce Administrators. Trainings turned out to be a real calling for her. She loves meeting meeting professionals from different backgrounds and industries in customer projects and especially in trainings. “Spending a week with people on intensive courses really brings you closer together,” she says.

Pauliina thinks that the best thing about working at Fluido, are her colleagues. She describes them having excellent know-how and expertise. “They are plain wonderful people,” she adds. Together they work on customer cases and do miracles every day while having fun. At Fluido she’s able to push her boundaries every day; making the customer happy by solving a complex business solution is one of the things that stand out.

"There's so much to see, so much to do, so much to accomplish and I can’t wait to see what’s around the corner."

Family is the most important thing to Pauliina, and thanks to her kids she’s able to stop for while. Sometimes her life gets hectic also at home, but at Fluido she has the freedom to manage her work which allows her to balance her time. Sometimes she might go from the airport to the playground in minutes. She has learned to be a master at switching between being a consultant, a trainer, and a mom.

Since she has been at Fluido from the beginning and seen the company grow from a start-up to a leading player in the Salesforce market in the Nordics, she’s very curious to see where everything is going. “There’s so much to see, so much to do, so much to accomplish and I can’t wait to see what’s around the corner,” she sums up.

During her time in the company, Catharina has managed many projects in Sweden and Norway, including Service Cloud and Sales Cloud implementations, Salesforce development, and maintenance projects. She also has experience in marketing, and is interested in extending her knowledge to Salesforce Marketing Cloud products as well. “It would be fun to be part of a marketing project at some point,” Catharina says.

Catharina has an international background. After school in Sweden, she spent two years in Geneva studying French, followed by university studies in the US and Japan. After her studies, she started as a management trainee at Unilever and ended up as product manager for ice cream company GB Glass. “I could start my day with the product developers, trying different vanilla flavors… No need to say that I love ice cream! Coffee ice cream is my favorite,” Catharina admits.

After some years with Unilever, Catharina joined the Nordic operations at IATA (International Air Transport Association). She was introduced to Salesforce when she became responsible for a Nordic-wide project focused on improving customer service management in local offices. “There was no tool used by the offices, so it was difficult to understand how customer service was managed. We needed a tool, and we chose Salesforce,” she explains. The project was successful and led to establishing a customer service center in Madrid that served the whole of Europe. After this subsequent success, the Salesforce roll-out was scaled to global level.

"There was no tool used by the offices thus it was difficult to get an understanding of how customer service was managed. A tool was needed and we selected Salesforce."

“I managed Salesforce for IATA for eight years and was then invited to become a consultant for Fluido. I thought — it’s now or never! And here I am!” Catharina says of her career move. Besides learning more about Salesforce, Catharina feels that she has gained new skills and experiences while working at Fluido: “I have been able to work with different companies and see their different processes and cultures, and that’s so interesting.” In her work, managing many projects simultaneously can be challenging, as work can get fragmented. Finding the right balance between being an agile company and having enough structure is also sometimes demanding.

Catharina thinks that shared enthusiasm is the best aspect of her work at Fluido: “I think what I like most is that it’s a company that is so dedicated to Salesforce. Everyone is very enthusiastic.” She also feels that keeping team spirit high is important for the company. “We have a really good team and team spirit. Fluido is a company that cares about its employees and wants everyone to feel good about their work and have a good time.”
